La diabetes se caracteriza por la alta presencia de glucosa en la sangre y la poca producción de insulina por parte del páncreas, ocasionando con el tiempo graves problemas de salud. Aunque no tiene cura, es posible y recomendable controlar la diabetes.

En todo el mundo hay más de 400 millones de personas que padecen diabetes, así lo ha resaltado un informe de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), el cual hace énfasis en la magnitud y en el aumento de casos de la enfermedad.

Una de las maneras más naturales es el uso de algunas hierbas o plantas.

Productos naturales para controlar la diabetes

1. Canela

La canela tiene la propiedad de estimular la insulina en el organismo, por lo que es perfecta para controlar la diabetes.

La insulina es un tipo de hormona que produce el páncreas, y que transporta y almacena la glucosa en las células.

En el caso de personas diabéticas, la insulina no se produce, o el cuerpo no la usa de manera adecuada. Por lo tanto, una bebida o té a base de canela puede reducir los niveles de glucosa, y permite disminuir todo tipo de inflamación.

Al mismo tiempo, ataca a las bacterias del cuerpo. Incluso, estudios iniciales hechos en Estados Unidos, muestran que la canela puede reducir el riesgo a padecer alzhéimer.

2. Jengibre para controlar la diabetes

Un estudio ha demostrado que se puede controlar la diabetes, e incluso prevenirla, con el uso del jengibre.

El jengibre puede agregarse en platos de comida, ingerido en té, o consumido a través de algún suplemento vitamínico.

Su consumo permite aumentar y asimilar de manera adecuada la insulina en el cuerpo de las personas diabéticas. Entre otras propiedades, ayuda a combatir el asma y sirve como antiinflamatorio.

3. Nopal

El nopal permite normalizar y controlar la diabetes. 

Además, el consumo de nopal permite reducir el colesterol y aumentar la capacidad antioxidante del organismo.

Esta cactácea puede ser preparada de diversas como ensaladas, sopas o batidos.

4. Ajo

El zumo o extracto de ajo es totalmente beneficioso en personas diabéticas.

Este ayuda a regular los niveles de azúcar en el cuerpo, aumenta la insulina y disminuye el colesterol, los triglicéridos y el ácido úrico en la sangre.

Los efectos del ajo en aquellas personas con diabetes son aún más favorables que aquellos esperados por el uso de fármacos que tratan a la misma.

El ajo puede ser, en este caso, consumido crudo o añadido en platos de comida.

5. Aloe vera

Se ha demostrado que el aloe vera tiene propiedades que ayudan a la reducción de la glucosa en la sangre y controlar la diabetes.

Permite también tratar los efectos de la diabetes sobre la piel, como en el caso de aquellas personas que padecen de pie diabético, reduciendo su irritación e inflamación.

El aloe vera generalmente puede ser consumido a través de suplementos vitamínicos, o mezclando el zumo de esta hierba con cualquier tipo de batido o jugo natural.

6. Orégano

El orégano tiene propiedades excelentes para la salud digestiva y puede ayudarte a vencer la diverticulitis.

El orégano en ensaladas, sopas, platos de comidas o infusiones, resulta beneficioso en las personas diabéticas.

Esta hierba aromática permite la reducción de los altos niveles de glucosa en la sangre, según ha demostrado un estudio que incluye también al romero.

Ambas hierbas, además de ser naturales, no producen efectos secundarios como pueden llegar a ocasionar algunos medicamentos que tratan la diabetes.

7. Té verde

El té verde es una hierba de origen chino con propiedades medicinales y beneficiosas para el corazón.

Esta suele ser de gran ayuda en el caso de tratamiento de la diabetes gestacional.

Tiene antioxidantes que evitan problemas en los recién nacidos de madres diabéticas.

También aminora los riesgos de padecer esta enfermedad, tratando también aquellos casos de personas con un metabolismo lento.

Actualmente hay muchos avances que permiten controlar la diabetes con el consumo de bebidas o comidas. 

Sin embargo, es importante mencionar que, en el caso de personas diabéticas, el tratamiento médico no debe dejarse de lado.

La idea es complementarlo con las opciones anteriormente propuestas, y con un estilo de vida que no exceda el consumo reglamentado de azúcar.
